Rumpke announces holiday service schedule changes and recycling guidelines
City of Fort Thomas | Official Website

Rumpke has announced changes to its service schedule for the upcoming holiday season. The company will not provide services on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025. As a result, service will be delayed by one day for the rest of each week. Regular collection schedules will resume the following week.

In addition to the schedule changes, Rumpke has provided guidelines for recycling during the holidays. Items not accepted in their recycling program include Christmas lights, ornaments, both real and artificial Christmas trees, ribbon, tissue paper, foil wrapping paper, toys, candles and candle holders. Greeting cards with sound should also be excluded due to lithium-ion batteries.

The list of acceptable items includes non-foil wrapping paper, cardboard boxes, paper gift bags and gift boxes. Postcards, greeting cards without sound components, newspapers and sales ads are also recyclable. Junk mail and clean pizza boxes can be recycled as well. Other items such as paperboard from cracker or cereal boxes and glass bottles and jars are welcome in Rumpke's recycling program.

Beverage cartons along with aluminum and steel cans are accepted too. Plastic bottles, jugs, tubs and cups can be recycled; however colored party cups like Solo cups are not part of Rumpke’s traditional recycling program.

For disposal of batteries which should not be placed in trash or recycling bins Rumpke advises contacting local solid waste districts.
