The City of Fort Thomas has issued a set of guidelines to help residents enjoy Halloween safely. The Fort Thomas Police Department compiled safety tips for those planning to participate in Trick-or-Treating, which is scheduled for tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.
The police recommend that children and parents check all candy before eating it, avoiding any homemade treats or items that appear tampered with. Additional advice includes staying clear of open flames and fire pits, keeping costumes and treat bags away from fire sources, being cautious around pets, and watching out for slippery leaves if it rains.
Residents are also encouraged to carry a cellphone while trick-or-treating. Drivers in the area are reminded to drive slowly, watch for pedestrians, and use extra caution when entering or exiting driveways.
"Have a safe, spooky, and fun Halloween!" said the city’s statement.
